Figure Firm was founded in 1985 by Mary Ann Honabach as a full equipment fitness facility. Mary Ann had a vision for a place exclusively for women to go to that was less intimidating as a co-ed gym. We allowed a safe place for women to workout at their own level and not worry so much about their workout attire or appearance. Later, it was decided to feature a tanning bed to compliment our existing eucalyptus room and sauna, whirlpool, and exercise pool all under one roof. Later, we eliminated the whirlpool and exercise pool. It is now operated and owned by Mary Ann’s son, Chuck Honabach. Today, we feature an assorted class schedule to incorporate the many interests of women and their fitness levels.

How to Improve Your Health at the Gym
Whether your goal is to lose weight, increase strength or endurance, improve your health, or improve the shape of your body, the gym is an excellent place to do this. Resistance training is one of the best things you can do to improve the health of your body and the gym offers many options to help.
Often overlooked when trying to get healthier is building muscles. Women tend to concentrate only on burning fat to lose weight but wonder why their body is not looking the way they desire. That is due to lack of muscle to hold that body into those nice shapes that women typically want. You need to build muscle at the same time as you reduce fat.
One of the best things you can do to improve body composition is weight training. You should do a combination of gradually increasing amount of weight lifted and the number of sets and repetitions completed over time. It is important to intake the proper nutrition when weight lifting to help you build muscle. The more muscle you build, and along with sticking to a healthy diet, the more calories you burn just by going about your day-to-day routine.
